Can I change the order of the PDFs before merging?

Can I delete pages from a PDF before merging?
Yes. In Pages view each page has its own remove button, so you can drop blank pages, cover sheets, or anything else you don't want in the final document. This also works with a single file if you just want to remove pages from one PDF.
Can I rotate pages in a PDF?
Yes. Each page has a rotate button that turns it 90 degrees at a time, so sideways or upside-down scans can be straightened before merging. The rotation is applied to the merged document itself, not just the preview.
Does the merged PDF have a watermark?
No. The merged document contains your pages and nothing else — no watermark, no footer, no branding stamped on your pages. Page content, images, and layout carry over exactly as they are in the source files.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Not directly. A password-protected PDF has to have its password removed before it can be merged. Rather than produce a broken result, protected files are flagged in the grid and left out of the merge.

Combining PDF files without the runaround
Merging PDFs is one of those small jobs that shows up at the worst moments — assembling a mortgage application out of six bank statements, stitching scanned receipts into one expense report, sending a client a single file instead of a folder full of attachments. The last thing the job needs is an obstacle course in front of it.
Yet that is exactly what most free PDF mergers serve up: an account to create, a three-files-a-day allowance, a watermark stamped across the result, and a premium tier waiting behind every second button. Merging by file, or by page
Most free PDF mergers treat a document as one indivisible block: the whole file goes in, in the order you list it, and if page three is a blank scanner artefact you get to keep it. That is fine when you are stapling two clean reports together, and it is why the Files view is still the default here — pick, order, merge, done.
Switch to Pages and the same job gets a lot more precise. Every document opens up into its individual pages, all of them in one grid, and from there you can rearrange PDF pages freely: drag page nine of the contract in between two bank statements, rotate the receipt somebody scanned sideways, delete the three blank pages at the end. Pages from different documents can be interleaved in any order at all, which is the part a file-level merger simply cannot do.
It also means the tool doubles as a way to clean up a single PDF. Drop in one file, remove the pages you don't want, straighten the ones that came in rotated, and merge — you get the same document back without the parts you didn't need.
What carries over into the merged file
Pages are copied intact: text stays selectable, images keep their resolution, and page dimensions and orientation are preserved exactly as they were in each source document. Portrait and landscape pages can sit in the same output without either being resized. Password-protected files are the one exception — they need their password removed first, and are flagged rather than merged into a broken result. More on what to expect and where the limits are.
